As we have moved into this exciting time we have taken the opportunity to build the kind of church we want to be part of.
We ended up with some very clear biblical objectives.
One, we want to ensure that our corporate worship is directed at God. we are not looking for a performance but rather a heartfelt worship. We ache to see reverence and deep emotion, knowing that God hears our praises/the cries of our heart. Worship of God is to be a foundation in this church.
Two, our meetings are to be about hearing and doing the Word of God. We are looking to hear the Word, not the philosophy of man and neither are we willing to only teach the parts of the Word that people liked.
Chris and I are committed to diving into the scriptures, the whole of the Word even if it goes against our human logic or desires.
God’s truth is holy and central to us and discerning what God is saying to us.
The third objective is we want to be living what we were learning. We want to be a living testimony, not just “Sunday Christians.”
We must “be doers of the word, not hearers only” (James 1:22),
We could no longer live or undertake ministry of just listening and not acting.
Chris and I are not perfect, nor do we expect others to be, but to have a community to love and support and who would also love and support us, one that represents the church of Acts, which is the inspiration and guide that we are given by the very Word of God.
And the finally is Discipleship and encouraging the saints to the great commission. No single leader has all the answers and with the promise of Him being by our side we long to see each and every saint working in their gifts, bearing fruit and building the kingdom.
All while living in a way that brings glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
